You’ll hear what this factor is and how to acquire it. You’ll also learn some pitfalls to look out for.

On a sidenote: when you listen to this podcast, you may notice a difference in sound quality. That’s due to our new Blue Yeti microphone. It’s an excellent piece of professional recording equipment and I highly recommend it for any podcasters or voice over enthusiasts.

It’s a good thing we used the new mic because my voice is fairly raspy and thin in this recording. I apologize for that, but my allergies are kicking in big time.

I hope you are blessed by this podcast. Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments below.

PS: Going forward, we will be publishing new podcasts on Saturday morning. It was just becoming too difficult to record them and upload them on Wednesday evenings. Be looking for our next podcast next Saturday.

When I was sixteen, I used to attend a lot of motivational meetings for a sales organization I belonged to. One of the things I often heard the speakers say was, “If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it.” Back then, I didn’t really understand what that meant… at least not totally.

As I got older, I simply dismissed it as some sort of PMA “psycho-babble.”

It wasn’t until the last few years that I truly understood just how powerful that principle really is. Once you can wrap your mind around this universal law, you will see whole new worlds of opportunity open up for you.

There have been hundreds of books and thousands of articles written in an effort to explain this principle, but I believe I can do it in one sentence. Put simply, you must be able to visualize yourself succeeding at something if you ever hope to actually achieve that success in the real world.

Sure, you can “fall” into a fortunate situation sometimes, but do you really want to bet your future on “dumb luck?” I sure wouldn’t.

Some people call this the “law of attraction.” Me, I just call it the “universal principle of faith.” Yes, I said faith. This principle is not some “new age” or secular creation. It is also spelled out in the pages of the Holy Bible.

Hebrews 11:1 reads, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” In James 1:6, we are told to ask in faith without doubt (with nothing wavering).

You see, how you see yourself and how you view the situation are vital to determining your level of success. It’s not enough to simply “wish” for something. You have to actually believe that you will get it. It is this deep, abiding belief that will cause you to carry on when doubts pop up and when fatigue sets in. It’s never easy to achieve any large, worthwhile goal and, without a belief that success will come, it is far to easy to quit when the storm winds start to blow.

I remember when Cindy and I were buying our house. We’d been married for sometime, but we had always lived in apartments. It was right around the time that the housing market was starting to go south and when mortgages were becoming very hard to come by.

Looking back, I can give you 1,000 reasons why we were not going to get approved for our home. At times, I just wanted to write it off as a silly dream and convince myself that I liked apartment living. What kept me going? I visualized us living in this house.

It’s true. I painted a mental image of us driving our car into the garage. I visualized us walking in the front door of this house. Before we ever moved in, I could give you a pretty good idea of what the living room was going to look like because I had already pictured it in my mind. To me, buying this house was a done deal. I just had to wait for the mortgage bank and the real estate folks to get their stuff together. :-)

It was that certainty, that kept me going when the mortgage broker asked for more documentation or when this or that went wrong.

It was during this process that I truly discovered the power of visualizing your goals as though they were already accomplished. Some people claim that you unleash some cosmic power when you do this. Others say that you free the hand of God to bless you. I’ll let you decide about that. What I will say for certain is that you free up your potential and kindle your desire to keep going and that is the key to success.

Henry Ford is often credited with saying, “Whether you think you can, or you thing you can’t, you’re right.” I don’t know if ol’ Henry said that, but I do believe that it is true. Your level of belief will determine the level at which you achieve.

If you see yourself as a failure, success will be very hard to come by. On the other hand, if you picture yourself as a success, in whatever area of life you choose, you will find the road much easier to travel.

“If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it!”
