You may have noticed that I haven’t posted her much in the past two weeks. Everything is fine; there have been no major catastrophes keeping me away from the keyboard. The problem is that I sometimes have trouble finding the words I want to write. Finding the topics are easy; it’s finding “the voice” that’s been the hard part. You see, I’ve been trying to make everything here generic. I didn’t want things to become too faith-based because I didn’t want to offend non-Christians. It makes it very difficult for me to do that and retain “my voice” in the articles.
While reflecting on this situation, I began to see the folly of what I was trying to do. Trying to play down the faith component of what I write is difficult because many of the topics I cover (and intend to cover) are very much faith-based. I firmly believe that God is the basis for all genuine self-improvement. I also believe that the Bible is the greatest self-help book ever written.
I know that there are others who could write a generic or secular personal development site with no problems, but that’s not me. I am the product of a loving relationship with my Lord and Savior. It’s that relationship that took me from being a scared kid who thought that no one loved me and that I was basically worthless and turned me into a man with a heart of compassion and love who knows that I’m not worthless; I’m a child of the King!
Are non-Christians still welcome?
If you are not a Christian, you are still very much welcome here. I promise that I will write articles that will benefit you. Just be aware that there will be more Bible-based material on this site. This site is not about converting people’s beliefs or getting them to join a specific church or denomination. This site is about helping people find their true, God-given value and potential. This site is not about religion; it’s about faith and truth.
What can we expect?
You will also note that this site will take on a more informal and personal tone. In the past, I’ve tried to write articles as though they were coming from an academic textbook. That’s just not me. From now on, the posts here will take on the tone of a letter to a dear friend – because, in a way, that’s what they will be.
Although we’ve never met, everyone who reads this site is very special to me. Your success and your happiness are very important to me and I want to do all that I can to help you achieve and maintain a level of both.
I hope that you will enjoy the new, more finely tuned focus of the site and that you will be blessed by it.
Be blessed,
