The Associated Press is reporting that former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling is considering running for U.S. Senate. Schiller is reportedly considering a run in the special election to fill the seat vacated by the late Senator Edward Kennedy.
Personally, I think this is a good idea. Schiller seems like a sincere, thinking man who would probably do very well in the Senate. After all, if Al Fraken can be a Senator, can the qualifications really be all that high?
As for Schilling’s lack of political experience, that shouldn’t hurt him either. Barry Obama had no real executive experience, but people went ga-ga over him and elected him. Unlike Obama, however, I expect that Schilling would actually bring his “A game” to the Senate. (Sorry for the bad sports pun.)
Right now, Schilling has said that some things would have to align themselves before he would run. If he decides that he wants to face that test and run for Senate, I say go for it!
Curt has until next month to decide and the special election will be held in January.
